Be confident

Hi lovers!

Happy Sunday! I am not sure where you may be reading this blog but down here in the south it is chilly and rainy....basically the best day to stay in your jammies and watch movies (or netflix) all day!! This morning did not start out as planned....

I woke up late, rushed to get ready for church, as I was walking down my stairs the whole back of my long black skirt I was wearing got soaking wet with the pouring rain, when I finally made it to the drivers seat of my car I was already 15 minutes late to Sunday school.  I really hate being late....I almost just got back in my car and walked back in my house and back into bed. But before I took off for church (a good 10-15 minute drive) I told God ...if I am going to do this PLEASE have something in it for me....like knock my socks off! Well per usual, He most certainly delivered on my request!

We discussed God's 3 temptations and how they relates to us replacing doubt with confidence. The devil tried so hard to put doubt in Jesus's mind about who he was....three times! But he never wavered! That is SO not like us....we get doubt put into our heads so easily and sometimes we are the ones putting it there....ridiculous? I think so!!! The question was posed...."What would change in your life if you let God be your confidence?" You guys!! I know one thing that would change....all the petty stupid things I let consume me....like men,,,,it would all vanish (at least be way way less).  My time would be consumed with seeking God and being a Godly woman always....that is what is important...now can you just imagine all the bi products coming from that?  What would change in your life?

The other quote that really hit home was "Doubt is strong but God's confidence is stronger". Gosh how true is that?! Doubt can be so hindering and sometimes literally stop you in your tracks. Just tonight I went to a birthday dinner for my friend and I was nervous she wouldn't like her present. I thought she may think it stupid and dumb and almost didn't bring it...I doubted myself and didn't want her to think I was stupid for bringing her something she didn't like.  I ended up bringing her the gift and she really enjoyed it.  It was a bunch of random stuff and I made a poem to go with it.  That is a really simple example of something that many people deal with. We all doubt ourselves but if we are confident in God and share his confidence that will trump our doubt any day and we will not be stopped in our tracks,

I don't know about you guys but I will from now on concentrate not on the worldly things but on my relationship with God and let the rest follow...

I pray you are able to be confident in God! Please share your stories with me!!

xoxo!!

Love thy neighbor

Hi lovers!

So in Bible study we are working our way through the book of Matthew. We are discussing Jesus' is last days before he entered Jerusalem and all the events that led up to Easter. Last night we came across the verses that give us the Great Commandment. If you're not familiar with the Great Commandment basically it says love God with everything you have and just as important love your neighbor like yourself.

Well you guys I got to thinking... What does God really mean by loving your neighbor as yourself? We can take it at face value to mean treat your neighbors like you would treat yourself. I totally see that meaning.... And that meaning is really easy for many people to grasp. But no surprise here I think a little bit differently!! It is way easier for me to love someone else then it is for me to love myself. So to me God is saying to those of us to may not love ourselves as we should.... You love your neighbor so fully you ought to love yourself as well.

Now I know that kind of a twisted way of thinking but hear me out... Given the choice between doing something for myself and doing something for others probably going to choose to do something for someone else. Which I get it and that's not a bad thing until you start neglecting yourself. So to me God is saying that we should also take care of ourselves(for those of us who struggle in that department) so we can serve for Him. I think it's kind of the curse of the teacher... It is in our blood to take care of everyone around around us  because that is what we do all day long.

So here is where the beauty of God's word comes in... He meets us exactly where we are in life. Everyone else in Bible study last night could have taken that verse to me very literally you love yourself so make sure you love your neighbor just as much. But God gave me a reminder that I need to take care of myself (love myself) so that I am able to keep serving others.Taking care of myself it's definitely one of my weaknesses....God and I are working through it....

I'm curious....what are your thoughts? Have you ever taken a verse in a whole different way from another person? Just curious....I love that The Bible is living and that we can always take away something new from it each time we read!!

Xo!!
